Weather

The month of July is in the middle of Winter in Chile. In Santiago, it is the coldest and second wettest month of the year, but the Mediterranean climate means quite mild temperatures compared to other parts of the world. Even in July, sunny days are common with about seven days of rainfall over the course of the month.

The minimum and maximum temperature on a given day can oscillate greatly. For example, it is not uncommon for temperatures of -1°C (30°F) in the morning and 26°C (79°F) in the afternoon, before cooling down quickly in the evening. Given these changes, it is always a good idea to dress in layers as opposed to using one thick garment.
